Nowadays, most of the chinese cuisine restaurants brought into not only those authentic chinese cuisine recipes the market, but also introducing and emphasising seafoods selection to meet the market demand. Here in GohTong Jaya, we have successfully discovered and recognised one of the famous and experiencedchinese seafood restaurants “Qui Lin” led by Ms. Lee Poh Keng.
Ms. Lee Poh Keng is the owner and founder of “Qui Lin Seafood Restaurant”. She has been operating this restaurant since 1998 at GohTong Jaya and it is considered one of the longest running restaurants in the area. The restaurant has received positive response for its variety of delicious food and the price of the food is reasonable.
Ms. Lee Poh Keng was born in 1968 at Ampang, Kuala Lumpur. When she was 21 years old, she went to work in a Chinese restaurant at Germany fror 4 years. Upon returning to the land of Malaysia, she started her first business in Batu Caves for more than 2 years. In 1998, seeing the strategic location in Gohtong Jaya and the opportunity to restart her business, she started “Qui Lin Restaurant”. Until today, she has been operating the restaurant for 20 years.
The first recommended food in “Qui Lin” is “Nyonya Asam Fish”. The steamed fish which is mixed with the homemade sauce is one of the signature selections. The homemade sauce, once tasted, brings out the sour, spicy and mild sweet taste. The fish must be fresh to have a good texture. To prepare this, the fish is steamed for at least 7 minutes depending on the size of the fish and applying the homemade “Nyonya Asam” sauce, it is ready to be served.
The next recommended food is “Two-Taste Prawn”. The ingredients include sliced cucumber, prawns, chilies, milk and onions. A portion of prawns are fried with milk and another portion is cooked with chilies and onions. In short, the prawns have mild spicy and savoury for the “Kung Pao” and sweet and savoury for the milk.
Besides that, the owner also recommended her “Iron Plate (Teppan) Pork”. The owner specially selects the specific part of the pork that has a soft texture. The pork is marinated with China imported spice which is not available in Malaysia which makes the taste of the pork so unique. The marinated pork is cooked with shredded onions and the complete dish has mild sweet and savoury taste. The texture of the pork is soft and smooth.
The fourth recommended food is “Thaistyle Steamed Seafood”. The seafood are clams, prawns and Sotong (Cuttlefish). The seafood are steamed with variety of ingredients include lime, chiles, garlic and chinese herb and it is fresh, sour and spicy.
Last but not least, the owner also recommended her “SignatureFried Tofu”. The fried tofu has a crispy texture at the outside but soft at the inner side. Fresh soy milk is first mixed together with the tofu and egg first before the tofu is fried. After it is fried, the tofu is topped with vegetables and minced pork. The tofu has a fresh soy milk taste and savoury.
