“Rojak” is one of the Malaysian’s local traditional eatery practised since decade ago both by Malays/Indians (Rojak Mee) and Chinese (Rojak Buah) on respective recipes. Also nowadays among the visitor’s must try local delicacy eatery when reached our nation Malaysia. Here in Johor, we successfully found and being recognised the very special & homemade Rojak Chicken specialist “Chen Chen Siang” presenting all their signatures under a roof into 3rd generation since 1980s.

The Muar local originated Mr. Toh Chen How (born 1973), together with his wife Ms. Khoo Ai Lee (born Tangkak, 1975) both are the recent immediate owners as 2nd generation on this recommended chinese cuisine restaurant “Restoran Chen Chen Siang” along Jalan Bakri, Muar introducing not only their famous Rojak Chicken, but also other home recipe on chinese cuisine & seafood menus to the locals and visitors. Recently being assisted by their son Klevin Toh Wu Heng (born 1996), the 3rd generation.

Late Mr. Toh (Chen How’s father), who had began his very first & traditional food stall in year 1980s along the Jalan Bakri (same recent location) serving his home-cooked noodles such Char Kueh Teow & Sotong Kangkong spent about 10 years there, then exposed into chinese cuisine eating place early 1990s. While Chen How who all the while helping father at their family’s stall initially touched the career since his teenage, finally in year 1994, at his 21st of age fully stepped into the industry & took up the responsibility to continue family’s career as next generation.

With Chen How’s experiences accumulated throughout the journey, with vision to further his exposure in the field and also foreseeing the great opportunity in the f&b industry made him again exposed into better manner introducing not only their traditional home-cooked menus, but also more selections on seafood and chinese cuisine menus running into wider environment still on the same ground at Simpang Jeram, along Jalan Bakri (Muar). And officially registered as “Restoran Chen Chen Siang” with assisted by wife Ai Lee, for more than 20 years.

In this Chen Chen Siang, the owners’ very first top recommended in menus surely will be their very exclusive signature “Rojak Chicken” which neither found in others. Chicken drumstick selected & prepared in boneless, marinated overnight on home recipes, followed by deep fried coated on recipe flour, then served in cutted fillet and topped with cucumber, pineapple, sengkuang & mango, taken poured onto their in-house homemade rojak gravy from mixtures of 8 secret ingredients brings excellent sour, sweet & fair spicy appertising eatery you must try when reached Muar, Johor.

Secondly will be their most famous in seafood selections, their “Salted Egg Yolk Crab” which favourite by all their regular customers. Indonesia imported meat crab selected, boil-cooked in minutes, then seconds stir-fried with their home recipe salted egg yolk paste prepared brings wonderful delicious salted egg yolk salty taste and the crab’s freshness itself into mouth you cannot aside. Also the crab meat’s bites texture itself you will like it. Other than Salted Egg Yolk Crab, their “Kam Heong Crab” also among the customer’s best choice here.

Another will be their Chef Chen How’s recipe “Garlic Fried Slipper Lobster”, which also the restaurant’s daily top seller must try. Fresh mantis shrimp (Slipper Lobster) floured-up & deep fried, then seconds wok-fried with chopped garlic, chilli padi and into slight rice wine brings unbelievable salty & fair spicy, mantis shrimp’s freshness and wok taste into mouth. Especially the shrimp meat’s texturing bites itself you will neither found better elsewhere in town.

While in noodle and soup selections, their famous 3-generations traditional home recipe “Shen Yu Mee Hoon/Noodles” practised since founder late Mr. Toh will be the “Must Order” menu in the restaurant. Fresh fish slices boil-cooked in their in-house prepared soup base, mixed with salted veges, plums, fresh fishballs & rice noodles (mee hoon) served boiled in claypot brings the best soup freshness taste you will never regret after tasted here.

Nonetheless, the owner cum main chef Chen How also taken the opportunity to introduce their “Signature Pork Trotter” which served after an hour braised on home recipe brings exotic taste & natural collagen eatery most wanted by visitors recently. And also their very owned creation “Claypot Kangkong” fried with homemade X.O. sauce and mixed with dried shrimp & dried scallop shredded you really cannot missed when stepped towards this highly recommended & recognised chinese seafood cuisine eating place “Restoran Chen Chen Siang along Jalan Bakri, Muar (Johor).
