“White Steamed Fish” or locally known Thailand Style Steamed Fish or Seafood since decades being famously practised and a favourite by our nation’s locals, especially at the northen nations. But in the south, Johor we found and been successfully recognised among the best Thai’s White Steamed Fish specialist “Long Poh Seafood” in Muar running by Tan family into their 2nd generation for the 25th years (Since 1993).

The local originated Mr. Richard Tan Beng Guan (born 1960), was the initial founder, together with wife Madam Yap Boh Choo both began their very first restaurant introducing chinese & thai cuisines to the locals under a roof in Muar. Also recently being fully running into next generation by son Terence Tan Chi Yi (born 1981) together with wife Christine Tan Lee Moi both are the current immediate owners of this recommended chinese & thai seafood cuisines eating place “Long Poh Seafood” continue presenting all their signature home recipes to the public on the same ground.

Richard Tan (Founder) who at his age of 58 years old today, being touched the f&b industry since his 14th began as a kitchen trainee under-employed in hometown Muar, also reached Singapore & East Malaysia exposed in the career spent more than 25 years experienced the field. With his vision to have his very owned restaurant and foreseen the market opportunity in the f&b industry, added with the thai recipes passed onto by a master in Thailand allowed Richard in year 1993 successfully established his named “Long Poh Seafood” chinese & thai cuisines restaurant along Jalan Junid (Long Poh), Muar.

While Terence Tan, the recent owner as 2nd generation cum main chef, who all the while grown up in an f&b family since kids having great interest in eatery & chefing also been touched the carreer from his teenage helping father in their home-base restaurant. With the mission to further his father’s recipes exposure in the field made him decided to fully stepped into the industry then took up the responsibility as 2nd generation & owner since year 2007, and being recognised as the best in town year 2018. Too being assisted by his wife Christine Tan recently in manner.

In this Long Poh Seafood, the founder’s very first top recommended in menus surely will be their “Signature Thailand White Steamed Fish” that can be seen on every single table most wanted by the visitors from around the nations. Commonly fresh red fish or groupers (or on customer’s request) selected, steamed about 10 minutes to cooked, then served poured onto their home-cooked thai’s white sauce/soup gravy prepared from the mixtures of chillies, thai sour sauce, lemons, salted veges, white beancurd cubes & tomatoes, topped with lemongrass and finally presented boiling onto table with Thailand imported metal steam-pot brings wonderful sour, sweet & spicy taste on soup swallowed into mouth. Secondly will be their “Claypot Curry Prawn” in special exclusive Indonesia recipes, which among the local’s favourite recently. Fresh sea prawns commonly selected, cooked with in-house curry paste prepared from more than 10 ingredients & spices mixture, mixed into dried beancurds & lady finger (with no coconut milk) brings unbelievable smooth curry broth/sauce into mouth, and the fresh prawn’s bites texture itself. Another will be their “Thai Lemon Sour Seafood”, which among the thai cuisine’s daily top seller in the restaurant like by their regular customers. Mixtures of fresh sea prawns, squids and fish slices boil-cooked in their in-house soup broth mixed with lemon juice, garlic, lime etc, then served boiling in their Thailand imported metal pot brings excellent seafood freshness taste and exotic appertising soup taste into mouth you will never regret after tasted here.

Other than seafoods and fishes, you can also try their “Deep Fried Kangkong” which known the ‘King’ in their vegetables menu neither found the same in town. Local fresh Kangkong (kampung veges) deep fried coated with their recipe flour, then taken tipping onto homemade thai’s salad sauce brings crispy bites you cannot aside.
